As the New York Times just reported, the actual numbers show that almost no one was criticizing Sydney Sweeney for her American Eagle ad.
But Libs of TikTok decided to pretend that lefties were angry. A story about supposed leftist outrage was concocted out of thin air by liars.
There were a few people offering nuanced takes about beauty standards and racialized aesthetics and a very small number of outraged people. But there was no mass rage at American Eagle or Sweeney.
But inventing liberal outrage is what Republican media do best.
I talked about this with my son - I am the same age as Brooke Shields and remember her “nothing comes between me and my Calvins” ads when we were both 14. Sex sells, but I am glad that we have sexy jeans commercials with adult women instead of catering to pedophiles. Minority opinion, I am sure.
