"Starbucks, the global coffee chain, had the largest pay ratio gap in the entire S&P 500 at 6,666 to 1 last year—Brian Niccol reportedly pocketed $95.8 million while the average worker earned $14,674, the eighth-lowest median pay of any S&P 500 firm, the report found." Institute for Policy Studies

  1. It's no wonder their coffee now tastes no different from what you can get at a 7-11. It's only people who like coffee with their sugar who still buy that crap. I haven't bought a coffee from them in years. Now, we only buy from indie coffee shops. You know, support local and all that good stuff.

  2. Suppose Brian Nicol were a decent human being. He could pay Starbucks employees $100,000 a year, and pay himself 200 times the average salary, and he'd still be making $20 million a year.

  3. Why anyone thinks Starbucks is "all that" is a mystery to me. It's over priced and pretentious, the so called coffee is full of artificial sweeteners and inferior. If people want a good cup of coffee, they'll look up the nearest Tim Horton's.

  4. This is atrocious! I have boycotted Starbucks for years . It started due to their treatment of employees but they have never been ok in my book!

  5. We need inverted corporations in America. Diagrammatically, it is an upside down pyramid. The CEO would be at the bottom tip and paid the least. The larger top part would be the workers and they would be paid the most. If the workers prospered they could reward their CEO. Trickle down economics!

  6. So grateful I don’t fund this kind of wage theft and over payment of the CEO

Consider your local coffee place - I bet the coffee is better

  7. Yikes! Never been a fan of Starbucks. Dunkin, yes! My favorite is a cup-of-joe made at home!

  8. That’s some really useful information—Firstly to really knock me into action & fully deny myself Starbucks. I’ve cut back 90%. Secondly, & I get that it’s really only I that thinks it could do any good, but in letter form, a delivering of a little piece of my mind to that rich & greedy CEO!
