A great piece of writing advice is "start your story as late as possible." --so with a prequel to a beloved movie, you take a story that likely took that advice... And start it earlier.
Almost all my favourite fiction lingers because it asks: How did they get that way or what happened next. I don't want a literal answer to either, I just like it knocking around in my head.

I've been saying for a while that a new adaptation of "First Blood" wouldn't be a bad idea.
So why are the people who want a new young Rambo movie doing a backflip over the really solid material that is RIGHT THERE!?!
"John Rambo" is already the name of the "Rambo" Director's Cut (Part 4 in the series).
