It is an absolute necessity that Democrats redistrict this way. Every state legislator Democrat who gives up the slightest bit of "fairness" on redistricting is inexcusably assisting the Republican party's assault on democracy.
Dog if we’re playing the gerrymandering game we need to go big or home. I want every district in New York State running into New York City so that every single one is blue. Not a single Republican from California. Every seat in Illinois runs through Chicago.

I’m all for gerrymandering ca, ny, etc., but how do we get around the ca and ny state constitutions? I don’t have much faith that Dem state judges will be as nakedly partisan in favor of Dems as the us supreme court is for republicans

I agree and would take it a step further and say (with maybe a couple exceptions for Dems in states/ districts that otherwise went for Trump/GOP) and Dem who isn't vocally and unambiguously on-board with both gerrymandering and the underlying rationale needs to expect a primary.

They have to better elections systems in blue states as much as possible, the solely relying on gerrymandering to defeat republicans could really backfire awkwardly. whatever, they are inactive, their 2024 statewide general elections lost so much as well, they fail in blue states as well. 😮💨

NY will be tough, because of the state rules, but any and all redistricting that can happen, should happen.
I'm no expert, but since the Rs have been dirty on this front for decades, there may be more room for creativity in bluer states. Just a theory.
