  1. Books carry ideas, some uncomfortable, some revolutionary. The impulse to ban them only proves their power and relevance.

  2. Mein Kampf is banned all over the place and I looked: there is absolutely nothing of value in there. Asimov didn’t really think that one through.

  3. For the record: Douglas Adams' Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy of five books IS definitely worth reading. However, it's difficult to keep it on lists of banned books cuz it's so darn cuddly!

  4. I am lucky to live in California. Just try and ban a book here! After seeing "To Kill a Mockingbird" a couple times....great film with Gregory Peck....I bought the book and read it. All it did was make me understand how things were in a certain time and period of America. We should all know this.

  5. You got that right. If I hear a book is banned, I want it. However, when I'm finished reading it, I can never figure out why it was banned. No book should EVER be banned. Besides the 1rst amendment ruling, if you don't want to read it, dont. Reader's choice. Funny, Trump hasn't banned Mein Kampf.

  6. I've read many banned books not worth reading. As a college student, I tried to read a part of "120 Days of Sodom" and quit quickly. On principle, I will fight for an adult's right to read it, but it had no literary contribution to recommend it be included in an elementary school library.

  7. Here's one of the books your Democrat friends want in schools. This was in TWO districts that my kids attended.

  9. I rushed the stage after his lecture at PA's Clarion state college when I was 14, he seemed a little startled at first, but was very kind to me and let me shake his hand. A real gent.

  10. I read most banned books when I was younger. Perhaps it’s time for me to catch up on the newer banned books.

  11. Isaac Asimov is one of my favorite authors. I've read many books by him. But here I have to respectfully disagree (if he ever actually said this at all).

"Fifty Shades of Gray" is a frequently banned book. I read a bit once. Fifty Shades of Gray is not worth reading. ;)

LOL That's how I started watching Married with Children. Some blonde Karen was on all the talk shows saying how bad it was. Not that she could't monitor her children's viewing.

  13. Exactly when you do not have proof of wring then just ban it. These folks need to be filing in court because they will win over banning in most cases

  14. Who burned books because they were politically inconvenient? Nazis! Education is the enemy of the tyrant, and that is why politicians love to ban books and cut education funding.
