  1. as an artist i actually genuinely hate it when my clients do this. please, for the love of god, hold me accountable. i sure as hell cant. x.x

as much as i appreciate not being stressed, people need to like... give me a deadline, damn it.

  2. Adding this to my first ever commission was actually really important to me.

I still stare at the commission often because of how happy I am with it.

This is white text on a black background, asking the artist that was comissioned to take their time and prioritize their own health. It reads "Lastly, i hope i remember tho say this when i actually commission you, but please take all the time you need. There is no dead line for when i'll recieve the drawing. If you're feeling bad, can't draw, or just generally can't work on her at a time, just put her asside. I am in no rush to recieve this Bust. Sure, some time within the next decade would be great, but i'd much rather you be healthy, than to stress yourself out and kill yourself over a drawing."

  3. As someone who takes comms and also puts a huge amount of pressure on myself when it comes to art, clients that bring this vibe just make the whole process so much easier and less stressful, I always want to send a million "thank you's" as I can't express enough how much it means😭🥺🥺

  4. I say this to every artist that I commission, meanwhile when I am the one doing the drawing, your commission will be done within 48 hours, possibly as short as three hours if I lock in. :p

  5. I tell people that if they have an a-hole customer whining, they can put them ahead of me just to get the problem person out of the artist's hair faster.

I don't care about speed, just as long as I get a weekly update. Even if that update is "no progress this week." As long as I'm not forgotten.

  6. This is the commissioner I try to be, even when checking in for updates I also try to check in with the with artist to make sure they are doing alright too. Life can be stressful and sometimes just showing you care can make all the difference.

  7. I like to say this to every artist I commission and it's 100% worth it even when it backfires and a simple B&W takes five months😭

  8. I was this kind of commissioner once and the artist took a year and a half. The artist did a great work, but do they take that much time? I don't want to go through that again so i grab a pen and started to draw on my own. Sorry.

  9. I know I'm not the only one, but I say something similar to that a lot when I commission an artist.

Art just can't be rushed in my humble opinion. Quality over quantity after all! I love it when artists show me their souls as they draw and make an idea I have "come to life" through their hands.

  10. I tend to set and forget when I commission. It makes the wait easier if I forget about it for a while. I have very bad luck in that I usually end up on the bottom of the queue. It can take months for my piece to even start. 😭

  11. I feel good saying to take their time, but then they go months without updates and complete it far past 6 months :( Now I only say no rush to people I trust.

  12. I always try to give that kind of encouragement \o/ Though if it gets near the end of the chargeback window I tend to give a poke haha, gotta protect oneself too.

  13. I always try to be that commissioner. Only time I'll ever get even a little bit pushy is when something has a hard deadline - ie. birthday presents - but even then... obviously if you're going through shit IRL that's more important. I need you alive and healthy more than I need this drawing on time.
