I was about to say "But it's not as dark as that first episode." Then I remembered the implications of that series D episode Animals. Still though starting off with the hero being accused of what the Federation accuses Blake of is darker than Star Trek, Babylon 5 or Doctor Who ever gets.
And it's not just what they (falsely) accuse him of, but that they even go as far as to brainwash a bunch of kids into having horrific false memories of being abused by him
