According to ICE, Dama was living in the country illegally since his visitor visa expired in 2019, and they also cited two DUI convictions on his record. He had entered the U.S. in 2019 on a visitor visa which expired the same year, and had a pending asylum application at the time of his detention.
These asylum claims seem suspect. If you’re truly being prosecuted how can you just leave your country and fly to the US in a visitor visa?
