I can't watch Ken Burns. His documentaries give me the ick. I ick I felt in the middle 70s when Manifest Destiny was being taught to elementary school children as something good. I remember going home & unburdening myself to my parents. They said I was correct to be discomforted & was asking the
right questions. Ken Burns pushes American Exceptionalism on us & most gleefully receive it. There is still no reckoning with the worst this nation has done to certain groups of people beginning with the arrival of Europeans.
