The next civil war will start exactly like the first one did where Californians will see it as an invasion by the regime and start an attack on federal forces. From there the regime would deploy the entire might of the US military on California and from there lines are drawn and violence ensues.
And my guess from there is it devolves into an Iraq-style insurgency, with the feds ultimately having to hide in 'green zones' as they get picked at.
