  1. Our attempt to soft-shoe fascism didn’t work, much to our surprise and chagrin. We now ask you, dear Blue MAGA, to remunerate us with the necessary funding to continue to provide you the pablum you’ve come to rely upon to nourish your hashtag resist mindset.

  2. It’s so good that NPR has been defunded. No more socialist marks narrative being pushed on all of us at our expense. Funny how certain people in media are getting fired now the USA ID is gone. Winning.

  3. Republicans announced the defunding, looked you square in the eye as they did the defunding, then celebrated after their big defunding victory--and you still chose to go with the passive voice here? Incredible.

  4. Bluesky is just ~10% of the US population. If only 1/3 of Bluesky users signed up for the minimal monthly donation of $5-$7 dollars a month, we would completely replace the money Trump defunded from PBS and NPR. People who say "what difference can I make?" should do the math. PBS needs help most.

  5. Do your job and hold this administration to account. You could have done it in this very post. WHO defunded public media? If you can't do that, then what in the hell would I be donating for?

  6. Their reporting is very both-sided; to a fault. Their strength has been in some of their podcasts, e.g., This American Like had some great coverage of a man in Gaza dealing with ethnic cleansing raids. They should try to focus on hard hitting investigative reporting more.

  7. We already pay for this with our tax dollars. We just need to get rid of the corrupt self-serving pedophile in the White House and his cabinet of billionaires, who have the wrong values.

  8. Oh boy, another reason why I hope Canada never becomes part of the US. At least for now we have the CBC, which, while imperfect, does do some reporting that the commercial media won't do. Our Conservatives, echoing Republicans, want to kill it off. Fortunately they lost the recent federal election.

  9. NPR is no better than corporate news like CNN or FOX. You just pander to whoever your audience is with the selected facts and turn that into a misleading narrative. It’s not that you all out right lie, you just strategically leave out important parts of the whole truth.

  10. I'll consider it if you vow to stop unwarranted "bothsidesism" reporting in your news programs that seemed to increase about a decade ago to appease those who wanted to defund you. Facts are just facts. No need to report someone's alternative facts & propaganda for the sake of "fairness."

  11. The only way I will donate is if you stop with the both sides stuff. Tired of seeing stuff like "Concentration camps are bad but it's doing a good job of stimulating the local economies".

    0
  12. Huh. I guess you craven cowards kissing Trump’s ass for three years was not the strategic genius you thought it would be?

The day you actually unambiguously say “Trump is a fascist” is the day I will take you seriously.

  13. I have completely stopped listening to NPR after 25+ years. It is unbearable, sometimes enraging. I wonder if anyone is paying attention to just how many voices of disgust are in this thread. You cannot continue to ignore or sanewash the stark brutality of what is happening here or abroad.

  14. Membership begins at 60$ a year, you can donate more of course, but you get amazing content and balanced news feed. It truly is just news. Facts no fluff.

  15. Maybe you should have portrayed him as the fascist nightmare anyone with half a functioning brain could see he would be when you had the chance.

In other words, this shit’s all on you.

  16. If you register as a charity, donors can get a tax receipt while also reducing the taxes available to chump's donors.

  17. You could start by not being the “Nice Polite Republicans” and hold the Trump Administration accountable.

    “Public media has been defunded”

By who? Name them. The view from nowhere approach to journalism is what got you here.

  18. If you'll start doing real digging into climate change, the genocide in Gaza, and the Epstein files (since you're no longer beholden to any special interests) I'll be very happy to donate!

  19. I’m sad for you. It sucks that you’ve been defended. I was hoping you’d be telling yt people how fucking racist they are and how they deserve to be yt ppl belong in internal camps.

  20. As soon as I return to the work force it will be my duty to do so!!! Until then I have WYSO on 24/7 in my home :) (my dog’s room radio, he’s very informed and cultured!)

  21. I was just thinking how this "great matter" is just like Republicans who haven't ditched their party yet. You ALL were built on, and WITH, the US under conditions that you're all helping to shred. You believe that strangling the goose that layed YOUR golden egg won't hurt you? 🤔

    1
  22. If you would have only allowed conservative or alternative voices or opinions and subject matter and not gone full commie you would still get federal funding. But alas you stuck to a singular leftist activist point of view.

  23. Desperately want to support PBS and literally thousands of worthy sources, journalists and nonprofits but I just can’t afford it.

We need the wealthy to step up. I don’t see that happening.

  24. NPR does donation drives every year, I thought it was always public donations that paid for this… how much of it was coming from the government?

    0
  25. I was thinking of doing this until I heard NPR's "unbiased" coverage of Trump last week. Journalism without opinions isn't journalism, it's just reporting. If I was running NPR, I'd be mad as hell and after blood. But CBS, NPR, ABC WaPo have all capitulated. Sunk cost fallacy rules. 5th estate wins.

  26. If you can, please support NPR and public broadcasting. They’re important voices in our communities and country, and they provide a critical service. #NPR #PBS

  27. Can Public media provide a level news that would attract our attention and viewership and not be heavily opinionated with the stories? Not be in a rush to be first with a story. Tell it honestly and with care. That has to be the future of news. All of the fear tactics are overplayed by many

  28. Love you all but stop hating on NPR—I’m an elder gay man who disagrees with NPR coverage sometimes- makes me angry. But people posting here probably Lean Left - Socialists. Nothing more sad than an ideologue— my way or highway. Im a proud homosexual centrist— Born as and will die as a Democrat.

  30. I feel like NPR has been squandering this concept lately.

Journalistic integrity is essential to democracy and yet NPR has decided that most headlines should just regurgitate POSPOTUS lies.

  31. This could be the best thing for NPR. A chance to break free and evolve into something newer and stronger.

    0
  32. Took the money I spent of Paramount streaming and donated it to NPR. Cannot abide a network that grovels to tyrants.

    2
  33. Public media is an important resource but :

    • offering a simpering apology to MTG over the Hunter Biden coverage threw your hard working journalists under the bus

    • breathless coverage of genAI While ignoring its vast damage to the environment, its widespread theft of artists work while-

    1
  34. On the other hand, you're like a plantation slave which has suddenly had their chains knocked off.

Say what you want to from now on. And tell it like it is.

As public supporters, all we expect in return is honest news, not opinion. Opinions are our job as citizens.

    0
  35. Oh no, that's terrible. Who did defunded it? I think you forgot to say, unless it just happened on its own somehow.

    1
  36. Fuck NPR.

You were complicit in getting Trump elected. You've been giving right wing lunatics one free pass after another, all while holding Democrats to impossibly high standards.

You fucked around, and now you are finding out what bending a knee to fascists does.

    Fuck off.

    3
  37. I donated yesterday. I can't make it monthly because I don't know what my finances will look like from day to day, let alone month to month! But I will continue to give, even if it's a single dollar, to keep our free press alive!!!

    0
  38. Right, your editorial staff ratio of libs vs conservatives: 87:1. You will not be hear me crack open the wallet.

  39. Public education is also important, and NPR is defunding public schools one charter school ad at a time all across the country. #StopCharterSchoolAds #StopPubliclyFundedReligiousSchools

    1
  40. I’d feel better about supporting if, just as an example, you didn’t say ICE is “enforcing immigration law” when they’re actually breaking the law, racially profiling and violating the rights of citizens. Reporting accurately is what I used to expect from you.

    0
  41. You lost the biggest supporter when you intentionally suppressed information on the genocide in Gaza while shielding those who perpetrated the crimes. You and @pbsnews.org should be shuttered.

    0
  42. I just had to turn off WNYC (which I do donate to monthly) because #NPR correspondents were all "Trump says." It's been 10 years. We're still supposed to believe he can get a deal done in a day while mostly playing golf?

    0
  43. Well, "We The People" cannot make up for a $9 BILLION loss.

    We already donate.

Time to bite the bullet and accept the loss.

  44. Yes. A free press is essential to Democracy. The sack of shit is trying to destroy journalism to destroy democracy

    0
  45. No, a free press that boldly calls out authoritarianism is essential to democracy. The rest of the media are only essential to corporate profits.

    0
  46. Why not take it to Republicans' who cut your funds? The rest of us are barely hanging on.

    0
  47. Trump, Republicans and Right-Wing christians have defunded public media. You should make it crystal clear who’s responsible.

    3
  48. Stand up and push back against this administration and oligarchs and I am happy to donate. Don’t bow down and I will donate. Bend the knee and I’m out. We need media that will stand against tyranny. Do that and I will donate. Until then-fuck off.

    2
  49. Nice Polite Republicans couldn't even name the person who defunded them while begging for our help to keep them alive.

    0
  50. Turns out capitulating to fascists the way you did last year doesn’t actually work. Who could’ve guessed? (Everyone)

    0
  51. Was the press really free if the press wasn't allowed to humanize Palestinians in Gaza until recently, with many journalists coming out and saying they were literally silenced on this subject or forced to stick to a narrative? And why do most of the stations follow the same script? What free press?

    0
  52. Doesn’t feel good when people make up lies, attack you, and they boycott you, huh?

Now you get a bit of what you do to Israel

    0
  53. When you start fighting for our country, I'll start donating again. For years you've been neglecting your role to publicly speak truth to power. Instead, you've been in the business of not making waves. You've been cowering; too afraid of seeming to be biased.

    1
  54. I listen to you every weekend just to hear the vomit you spew. I laugh at the bias and TDS inherent in your reporting and positions taken. Change. You’ll have more than enough. The problem is, you can’t be right in the middle. You’ll always piss one side off. Welcome to the world today.

    2
  55. You're right that public media is vital but you got what you deserved. You catered to right wing facism and now that catering to the right bit you in the ass you pretend to care about unheard voices. The NPR is a hypocritical organization that only cares about itself. Enjoy your grave.

    2
  56. Probably should have thought about this when you were busy platforming all of these awful people and normalizing their bullshit in the name of "balanced journalism" I used to listen daily and donate but the amount of legwork y'all were doing for Trump and other fascists ended that.

    0
  57. So where did all that capitulation get you in the end, eh? Hopefully others learn from you that it doesn't save you.

    1
  58. You both sides everything. You used to have journalistic ethics. You've whitewashed white nationalist fascism and towed the Israeli propaganda line, abetting or completely ignoring the slaughter. I literally avoid listening/watching to you anymore. It angers me how quickly you sold your soul.

    0
  59. you are not a femboy organization of truth and justice!

YOU ARE a capitalist wolf in sheep clothing! You will not pass go! You will not take my bussy! and you most certainly wont collect my $200! GOOD DAY MAM

I DEMAND STATE MEDIA! FUNDED BY THE TAX PAYER AND SPEAKER OF THE GUBAMENT! CHOOSE!!!!!!!!

    0
  60. I use to believe that until I see what the major media agency in America turn out to be the biggest loosers in history so for get that

    0
  61. Oh no! But now who on the left will give tacit approval to fascists? Who will give cover for the genocide in Gaza and call anyone who disagrees an antisemite? Y’all’s own actions have a pretty big part to play in the rise of fascism and your own demise. C U Later 😭

    1
  62. NPR was already mostly corporate funded, and the shallow, inane banter that sucks up so much broadcast time is indicative of that.

    0
  63. What if you hadn't sane washed your coverage of him during the election? Might've been different, but I guess you had your reasons.

    1
  64. I’m sorry, you did this to yourselves. You normalized the fascist during a period where you could have actually helped and now you want the people to bail you out from the Leopards eating your face? Any journalist with any integrity left NPR long ago. Let it die and we can rebuild something better.

    1
  65. This is a massive crisis, and you can’t even name the people or entities responsible for it. You’re all a pack of cowards, you didn’t fight when it mattered, and now that you had your money taken away you’re still not fighting.

If you want my money for donations, stand up to the orange fool.
