Why are Israelis so loose tongued? If it were true that the Israeli government had foreknowledge of the Hamas attack and decided to exploit it, would that not arouse very great anger in Israel?

Israeli papers (well Haretz at least) clearly set out Israeli involvement in the October 7 attacks at the time.

I believe the primary aim of the al-Qassam brigades that operated on Oct. 7 was to capture 250 Israeli hostages to exchange for some of the 10,000 or so Palestinians held in Israeli prisons (many, inc. children held for years without trial). The ‘Hannibal Directive’ was the biggest killer that day.

Israel knew about 7/10, their own intelligence was warning them for over a year and Egypt warned them a few days before the attack. It wasn’t what Israel expected so they employed the Hannibal detective to make it worse and grant permission to destroy Gaza.
