groan I think of techno as coming from boxes and emulators and laptops. The 80s synthesizers are a little different.
Synth is a term I more associate with city pop and pop in general.

I think Boom Human has used that in his sets. If you haven’t heard the Canadian artist (and writer, pilot, and successful serial tech entrepreneur) he’s worth hearing - and one of the nicest guys in the world.
