This post singlehandedly made me understand why no reporter has asked Trump what he thinks ‘asylum’ means.

Because they have been intentionally curated to be woefully unqualified for the moment by their employers.

What's difficult for reporters is there's no evidence showing Trump's actual reasons for the deployments. You can speculate (he doesn't like blue cities, he wants to crush anti-Trump protests, he wants to intimidate voters next year) but the only reported justification is the anti-crime crackdown.

  1. 100%.

Corporation-owned news orgs now serve dear leader and the oligarchy. They are state propaganda now. Can no longer be trusted. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, WaPo? Extinct.

The many citizen writers and photographers that go where the news now is, fearlessly, are the new heroes of journalism. Trust them.

  2. So the argument here is that it's impossible to call out abuses of power because the abusers aren't saying "I'm abusing power"

they don't make reporters like they used too. and a lot of this was because of the collapse of the press into 24 hour shitshow bread and circuses.
