Friends from US were over recently.

One of them - who's lived in America for decades and has residency but not citizenship was so concerned about the climate back there that he purged his phone before flying back...

But it's the UK that has a free speech problem? www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/l...

  1. We’ve got two British friend who are selling up and moving back after over 25 years there. The one who never got citizenship said the same thing, he’s now terrified that every time he leaves he won’t get back in so he’s done.

  2. You don’t think if you have a current ESTA and also a BlueSky account it’s the BlueSky account you’re deleting? My NYC mates say don’t bother; you’re already targeted. Not that I’m going back mind you!

  3. So her initial tweet was not a hasty, ill-concieved mistake then?

This woman is proving right now that she is a political provocateur, she has an agenda.

At the moment her agenda is "free-speech" previously it was killing asylum seekers.

  4. Trump officials will talk to a criminal, and may use the information they glean to attack the UK. Yeah, Britain’s “closest friends and allies.” That USA.

  8. Lucy Connolly:

    1. Committed an offence under legislation brought in by the Thatcher government
    2. Pleaded guilty
    3. Was sentenced according to guidelines set out by the Johnson government
    4. Freedom of speech doesn't extend to incitement to violence
    5. 1A to the US Constitution says exactly the same

  9. Ah, the new FRight poster child, no doubt.

Next week she'll be meeting with Tommy Robinson, I'm sure, assuming he's not back in prison yet again.

In October she's planning to get Trump and Putin back round the table for further Ukraine talks

  10. How do you go from inciting the burning of hotels with the people still inside to meeting with the President of the US? It’s utter bonkers.

  12. Unfortunately booked Vegas before last election. The ESTA application asks for socials handles. No chance. ‘No Social Presence’ was ticked.

  13. She's got a point about being silenced, though. It's not like the Telegraph splashed an extensive and ludicrously fawning interview with her across most of their front page (continued on page 7) two days ago.

  14. I was planning a US west coast motorcycling holiday next year with a group of friends. We paid our deposits this weekend but it’s now a British Columbia/Canadian Rockies tour. We prefer to give our money to Mark Carney and have peace of mind.

I genuinely don’t understand. If she thinks what she posted was alright & she should be free to post her opinions then why did she delete the post I don’t watch Dan, I don’t have the stomach for it but surely he asked that question?

I can’t understand the hypocrisy. The things people say and write but the UK has a free speech problem!! They are banning books like The Diary of Anne Frank in the US!

"Free speech", they seem to think, means that nobody is allowed to be offended by the things they say, and also that if another person's views differ from their own then they must stop speaking.

    "Me speech".

  21. This whole Palestine Action thing is some kind of reverse engineering response to the Labour antisemitism problem. People didn’t exactly come out of the woodwork to defend it when we all know the Tories’ AS problem has always been FAR worse!

  22. Zero to do with ‘free speech’ everything to do with ‘incitement to riot’ and ‘hate speech’ under UK law. She has absolutely nothing to mitigate her actions.
