I feel like genAI will go sorta the way of NFTs, I think where it is useful, they will keep using it and in areas where it isn’t, they will not admit they did anything wrong. I heard a report on NPR that was talking about how at least one company claimed it was mostly replacing outsourced work.
For most people it is a novelty product, only a select number of people really see useful work done by it. Right now companies want to be relevant and think the press from appearing to be on trend will offset the cost, if they didn’t jump on the trend they lose money in the short term.

If genAI succeeds more than expected then they lose money in the long term. I don’t see companies severely suffering from AI investment and regretting it. The bubble will burst and many people will lose money, but I don’t think anyone can give a super accurate estimate of the impact.
