  1. The court should have it served for safety reasons.

He should have been arrested and jailed. The judge have referred it for investigation.

  2. An order would not have stopped that

That's where our thinking is 100% fucked by tv and like the 3 times it's happened

Police are not going to stop crimes that's not what they do

They record the crimes for the people that can make everyone's life worse about it after

  3. The system does not protect women in this society; particularly women of color. A womanโ€™s plea for protection needs to be taken seriously, and there needs to be teeth in the consequences of a protective order

  4. This happens all the time - both the violence and the ignoring of women. Most violent deaths of women occur at the hand of an intimate partner. How horrible to have to predict your own imminent death.

  5. LISTEN to the VICTIMS! Deepest sympathies to Latriceโ€™s family and loved ones. Epstein victimโ€™s voices also need to be heard. The hundreds of SA and rapists need to named, rounded up and brought to justice.

  6. Same thing happened to my friend I begged her to take my pistol and put his ass in the dirt! He ended up killing her, in front her dtr on her front fckn lawn. Women even if you have the order (itโ€™s just a paper trail) arm yourself and donโ€™t be afraid to light his ass up!

  7. Wayne County court denied mine against someone threatening me on my front porch with video and a cop present, and GRANTED one to my husbandโ€™s ex after she hit him with her car with the kids inside of it and he had major injuries. Theyโ€™re corrupt and horrible at what they do, and itโ€™s dangerous

  8. This man had already demonstrated his ability and desire to destroy property, had repeatedly proven that law enforcement intervention was not a deterrent ... AND the woman was afraid for her life.

There's nothing left after this except the actual murder. He should have already been in custody.

  11. The 1st time I realized that the justice system, specifically police, don't protect women was when I was a child watching Nancy McKeon play Tracy Thurman in a movie on Lifetime. This was 1989, and we've made no progress with domestic violence protection since then. Latricia's fam deserve justice!

  12. I suggest DV victims lie in wait. If you know this person will come for you, set a trap that will allow you to get rid of the problem and call it self defense.

  13. It seems like there have been a LOT of these cases recently. Attention bias because a few blew up in social media and so the rest aren't flying under the radar? Or is the govt and the law too distracted hurting people to protect at-risk people right now?

  14. Watch who you marry and who you lay down with. People need to take responsibility with who they get involved with.

The state will not be there when you actually need them. It doesn't matter if it's a blue state or a red one.

  15. I get it. I tried in vain to get one against my ex. I finally got a no contact order so he wasnโ€™t able to text or call me.

  16. In April, this very thing happened to my best friend of 30 years. We were at the courthouse at 7:30am Christmas Eve morning; wrote a three page letter to the judge pleading for protection. He had ten guns and loads of ammunition. Denied. Four months later he shot her twiceโ€” in the head and chest.

  22. I listened to a panicked panel discussion about the precipitous drop in global birthrates and how leading minds think it somehow coincides with technology. Maybe there is a kernel of truth there. This little pocket window to the world makes it pretty clear the risks and the remedies are intolerable.

  23. Anyone wanna place a bet that he has a history of violence towards women/girls in his life? If men commit violence against women and girls, along with language that expresses their hatred and violence toward women, then why can't they be charged with a HATE CRIME? FEMICIDE IS A HATE CRIME. ๐Ÿ˜’

  24. We need better laws to support DV victims but right now in America, it seems to be womenโ€™s safety, womenโ€™s rights just arenโ€™t important anymore. Thanks right-wing MAGA. My heart goes out to her familyโ€ฆshe deserved better.

  27. Rest in peace and power Latricia Green. I'm so sorry this attention is too late to save you. Maybe we could publicize PPO requests more, so the public sees who people are concerned about? I know it's shaming, but that sometimes works.

  28. Sorry to hear. Laws need to change to protect domestic violence victims, but I sure no change will happen in this administration. ๐Ÿ˜ก Force your local and federal representatives to introduce legislation to protect domestic violence victims. Vote!!

The court system offers no protection for DV survivors. Itโ€™s a really helpless feeling, and itโ€™s got to change.

  31. Her family should file a civil suit to the PD or whoever should have served him with the protection order. This is straight up depraved indifference imo.

  32. Laws may deter, but they are not protection. Even from people who at one pointed claimed they loved you. Love should never be dangerous or fatal.

  33. cops canโ€™t do shit until youโ€™re killed and what help is that? this guy had already been in prison for stalking and arson, but the judge denied her first PPO request. Why?

  35. I am in a very dark place today. I think that this is how the system is supposed to work on Black people. She gets assassinated. He goes to prison, and our numbers keep dropping. Our communities get destroyed and the system keeps humming on.

  37. Society. doesn't. value. women. This is proven to women daily. So we don't want to hear about any f*cking 'male loneliness epidemic', or to be blamed for women choosing not to get married, or for decreasing birth rates. In the US, pregnant women's #1 cause of death is homicide! Let that sink in.

  38. What kind of man hunts and guns down a woman in cold blood? Killing him is not enough punishment. Letโ€™s think of something worse.

POC folks gotta stop voting MAGA.

But you need to do it.

    Thank you.
