The amazing thing is that while Europeans are slapping themselves on the back for their dealings with Trump, what he has done is take sanctions on Russia off the table and put giving Ukrainian territory to Russia very much on the table.

  1. Absolutely correct. Nothing has been achieved which benefits Ukraine at all. Like everything with Trump, it’s all bluster, in the hope that reality somehow falls into line.

European leaders need to remember that Trump has no interest in whether or not a peace is equitable.

Don't be naive. They know who he is and what (and who) he represent. They're just buying time, if they're not fools.

  3. I don’t think anyone in Europe is slapping their backs or feels like they’ve fixed Trump. Europe has nothing but distrust for Trump and Russia. Nothing is finalised and essentially nothing has changed other than we are further from peace than we were before the Disaster in Alaska.

  4. Feels like a parallel universe sometimes with our media and politicians. We've gone from Trump threatening "serious" sanctions of Putin if he doesn't stop.. to just rewarding him with the offer of Ukrainian land he doesn't possess and zero consequences.

  5. Europe, unprepared, restrained, territory threatened, required in relation to both Russia & US, is in reality more economically powerful than either when unified & organised. Reliance on US hegemony combined Russian kleptocracy. Relatively obvious situation from most Europeans perspectives.Empires fall

Clearly neither Putin nor Trump has a clue about who the Ukrainians really are. Some Europeans might.Trump thinks he is bartering chunks of dirt. he truly does not care about people(even his own). The dirt chunks hold millions of Ukrainians and there is no way they’ll be abandoned by their countrymen

To play the devil's advocate, by stringing Trump along they're also preventing him from lifting sanctions which he has been wanting to do for a while now. By keeping those sanctions in place the Russian economy continues to overheat and the war becomes more and more unsustainable over time for them.

  9. Totally agree. Wearing a suit and licking his arse achieved absolutely FU. Starmer/Mendolson got this totally wrong, Trump is not a friend.
