Gotta admit, that Starship 10 test flight was impressive. They overstressed the rocket to push its limits, and despite a lot of burn damage to the aft flaps it "landed" right on the money next to a buoy in the Indian Ocean.

  1. Looks like they accomplished all the goals they wanted to accomplish. The satellite mockup deploy was impressive. Tons of things learned. I'm still mad at Elon, but there are thousands of people at SpaceX who are not named Elon. Without SpaceX, we'd be about third or fourth in the world at space.

  2. As you know, Shuttle was ultimately hamstrung by the refurb needed after reentry. Starship right on track for the same. Landing is good. Landing not melted to shit is neccessary.

How long before the Nazi takes his toys home like a spoiled brat? He reminds me of that kid that would cry because he doesn't get his way then take the ball and go home so no one else can play

  4. Gwynne Shotwell and her team deserve all the celebration.

And even if they didn't achieve a landing with a fixable Starship, even if they were expendable, Superheavy and Starship would be very competitive in the heavy launch market, just because they are cheap to build.

  5. Not exactly rapidly reusable, it almost melted from a sub-orbital trajectory. I hate to see how it handles a lunar return.

Spectacular yes, evidence of a usable system meeting its stated goals, not so much.

  6. it's a lie we're fed that nasa couldn't do this without someone getting taxpayer money profits out the wazoo

  7. The part of me that recognizes that rocket engineering is expensive battles with the part of me that wants billionaires taxed down to a few tens of millions, put under 24/7 surveillance, and allowed to 'run the game' again in a harder mode so they can brag about doing it twice.

  8. Whole starship and Mars dream is just bulls*hit. If we had planned for moon by now we would have a colony there but some billionaires are selling unachievable dreams just to fuel thier other companies share and other agendas. No body will ever land on mars.
