In the 80s, Phil Collins and his band "Genesis " had a song called "Land of Confusion." You all need to find it and listen to it word for word. Then watch the music video. Report back to this post after and tell me what you learned.

  1. Why can’t we start creating the music of protest for now? I like the ‘80s dystopia tunes and the ‘90s N.W.O. But it’s time to write our current protest songs.

  3. Remember this as a teen. Didn't love the song, but the lyrics were damn good. Definitely appreciated.

  4. Thank you for your responses and suggestions! I have really enjoyed reading this thread. The song popped into my head at 1:30 in the morning for mo apparent reason and I just thought OMG that's happening now...just as it was back then. I wanted to share my thoughts and hear from you! Thanks!!!

  7. I saw it in the 80s on MTV!

I have relistened to it fairly recently…and was struck by the fact that Phil’s generation did not put it right

  8. Follow up with The Who’s “Why Did I Fall for That” and chase with Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality”

(Genesis being described as “Phil Collins’s Band” hurts my soul… but it is a pretty good song)
