There are plenty of Confederate statues in front if every small town courthouse in the South. We should have finished them the way Sherman finished Georgia.
All of those statues were put up in the 50s to protest civil rights.

Not all of them. The first wave was 1890s-WW1, when the Confederate veterans were getting old and gray and nostalgic.
