  1. No need to hide it anymore. They’re blowing up the country and people are sitting idly by.

  2. And probably, winning Congress again means more damage to democratic elections due to the right-wing cult.

  3. This is what happens when A) 1/3 of eligible voters do not vote B) we ignore those mid-western voters and C) Dem leaders clutch their pearls and scream “unfair!”

  4. Well DUH. Trump said the same. Now Dems have to FIGHT BACK!! Let the gerrymandering wars begin. No more playing nice. No more compromising. No more trying to stay above the fray.

  5. Credit where it's due: from Trump on down, every single one of these dirt-merchants has been crystal clear about their intentions and methods and ultimate goals. None of them have tried to hide any of it.

Short of just repeating The Fourteen Words over and over in unison, what more can they do?

  6. The first thing I saw on TV this morning on my way from the bedroom to the coffee pot was some of the Texas Dems in a press conference with Governor Hochul.

Gotta admit it, I didn't think they had it in 'em. I'm encouraged.

  7. Well yeah, say it out loud and dare anyone to stop them. Would we rather have them sneaking around like they did before Taco Shitler?

  8. There was an interview on Stephen Colbert, back when he was playing the Colbert character, where a politician made a similar claim, and he broke character and asked "You know we're recording you, right?"

The person being interviewed saw no problem with that.

    These people have no morality.

  9. If they get away with it, I'll lol if their R's don't vote for them & still elect the D candidate because pretty much a lot of R's are sick of tRump & Abbot.

  10. Hard to believe that the party in power gets to draw the map. Even harder to believe is these horrible people ever get elected. Yes, Canada has its faults but our parties & politicians gerrymandering is a non-issue.

  11. Perplexity AI states the following about most gerrymandered states. Maybe CNN needs a real time AI concierge to help push back

  12. Just a reminder that the RNC attorney who in the 1980s successfully argued before the SCOTUS about the constitutionality of gerrymandering, was a closet gay man who died of AIDS. He had regrets.

  13. Why must we stay in this one “country” set up with the undemocratic political system? So that the Republican cult can do all it can to make America whiter? So they can use politicians masquerading as judges to thwart democracy when convenient?

What’s the point anymore? Let’s divorce and be happy.

  14. And Justice Roberts greenlit this by saying partisan gerrymandering was non-justiciable. I blame Republicans plenty, but let's point to the Chief who called it a ball and not a strike.

  15. …and most importantly, to keep the pervert Trump out of prison. Holding a protective majority in Congress and on the Supreme Court guarantees Trump’s safety from removal.

Do not trust that “free & fair” elections will proceed while MAGAts hold all 3 branches of our government.

  16. The damage Trump has inflicted upon the democratic process, the institutions that are foundational to political accountability and to the moral wellbeing of society is incalculable.

  17. TX GOP could have made up an excuse to Trump why redrawing the maps mid decade were impractical.

  18. It's kinda funny how the Republicans seem to regularly say the quiet part out loud. Governor Abbott just did the same thing. He admitted it's ok to gerrymander during a news interview.
