Asbestos as a metaphor for where I suspect we might be going with LLM tools: rapid push to shove it into everything as a "modern solution," then an eventual "oh shit" walkback.
I think DDT fits a little better. Asbestos was generally harmless (save for the workers making/installing it) until you F’ed with it or tried to remove it.
DDT accumulated in the environment. And wrought harm for years after we phased it out.
