It didn't take Germany 50 years, Paul, it took a failing Russia (USSR) to virtually collapse for Germany to become one nation again. The time it took was only precipitated by Hitler which resulted in the dividing of the nation between the east and west. We have a wholely different issue here.

In Germany in the 90s I spoke with a gentleman who had at 16 served in Berlin at the end of the war He told me that when they knew the city was lost he and his battalion threw their guns down and ran towards the Canadians. Seems like that'll be a good move this time too
