At a minimum, indictments should prompt the removal of individuals from committees.
I also remember that it took nearly 10 months to expel Santos after he was indicted.
We need clear rules around indictments and convictions of our representatives to avoid partisanship and increase trust.
The Trump admin has proved you can get an indictment on anyone they want. The illegal procedure violations concerning Comey is a good example.
And does anyone expect a guilty verdict with Comey? No. So let’s let her have her day in court before removal from Congress.
I’m not advocating for outright removal, and I hear your indictment argument.
I actually think that is even more of an argument for the development of clear processes and rules. Otherwise we’re at the whim of however strong and whatever direction the political winds are blowing at the time.
