In fact a lot more savings travelling on the sleeper. Breakfast, unlimited tea, coffee, snacks. All have to be paid for in a hotel. Also time factor. Journey still has to be made. Up with the larks vs still asleep on the train. Or catch a train leaving London after I'd have arrived in Cornwall.
Lounges both ends for both pre and post travel. More tea, coffee, soft drinks, snacks, fresh fruit and the Paddington lounge looks like Phileas Fogg setting off from the Reform Club
