I wish more Americans had an ‘every human being counts’ thought-stopping cliche in their brain rather than a ‘we have to constantly use violence against certain kinds of people’ thought-stopping cliche. The former is more likely to be true, more reliable. The latter makes everything good impossible.

  2. As a resident of Baltimore I will tell you that people that don’t live here but live nearby literally just don’t believe it, no matter how much data there is. I drive and walk around in the city literally every day and I’m fine but my parents would like if it I was strapped to the gills 🤷‍♀️

  3. Recently I did hear a presumably not super lefty relative credit Baltimore with reducing crime by giving people things to do, so probably a bit of breakthrough although I think she probably lives close to Baltimore.

  4. I remember meeting this guy who was a cop in Milwaukee and he was like “wow Boston how did they get crime down so well?” And I was like “well for one thing when a kid gets in trouble they connect them and their family with a social worker” and he was just like…quiet
