It’s not just that unemployment is up 28% since the govt took office it’s that they engineered it! If you have the faintest clue about how the economy works you know that cutting public spending impacts the private sector immediately. The govt is the private sector’s BIGGEST customer.

  1. This happened in the UK. Public services were privatised, sold off to foreign owners or outsourced overseas (see, for example C(r)apita). So a greater proportion of govt (tax payer) money went to off-shore companies… never to cycle through the economy again.

  2. yes, indeed. The Cowalition's Willis is not endowed with economic intelligence and continues the "lies and deny" processes they are feeding out to the gullible. If you remove people's incomes and further go benefit bashing, no one spends while they are in survival mode.

  3. leadership of my large employer are all typical supporters, but half the business is government contracts that all went poof with no sign of returning and big panic around past 12 months + empty pipeline. Of course "efficiencies" in staff counts have been the solution to these problems to date.

  4. It’s also the country’s biggest employer. What do you expect unemployment to do when you fire almost 200K workers? Thanks DOGE there goes 200K consumers with no disposable income…good economic plan.

  5. Adrian Orr literally said it. "We're going to manufacture a recession, and increase unemployment." Congratulations, you succeeded.

  6. It’s not just that they fired a bunch of public servants who entered a job market with no jobs. They gave taxcuts to landlords who don’t fucking create any jobs or product or improve society in any way shape or bloody form. Once again I feel like I’m taking crazy pills 😡
