85 years ago, on the 20th of August 1940, Leon Trotsky was assaulted with an ice axe by a U.S.S.R. assassin. The assassin had managed to be alone with Trotsky in his study on false pretences. Trotsky survived the attack but died the next day. #russia #mexico #assassination #otd
