Watching a 20-something BookTuber talk about viral books they didn't enjoy (not gonna name her b/c she seems okay otherwise) but one of her complaints about a book is that it's written like "OG YA" and thus didn't really fit her tastes. Uh yeah? It's YA! It's not gonna hit the same as an adult??

Anyways this leads nicely into a pet peeve I have about BookTubers/Tokers. Yes, ppl should be able to read whatever they want regardless of age but it irks me that so many of their recs are basically formulaic YA plots with really simple writing that's mostly dialogue
