The article was about hunting, specifically trophy hunting. Waste, yes, some but not in the way seen with trophy hunters- headless carcasses are found often. Domestic animals & wild animals (particularly threatened species) are very different- domestic breeding stock isn't killed for trophies.
why is an animal trophy worse than a celebrated pulled pork recipe? because it’s garish and ostentatious and forces us to confront the cravenness and gratuitousness of the killing.
