Access has been similarly restricted to the recordings archive. The bottom line is that this and many other fundamental changes made to other areas of the BBC (Sounds, for instance) is to make money as a direct instruction from the DG. It’s very sad.

  1. Well I guess the BBC has to prove to the government and licence payers that it is making every effort to raise funds from other sources available to it (eg corporate enquiries into Archives?) BBC Worldwide, etc. if it wants any increase in the licence fee. (BBC Sounds is free in the UK, surely?)
