I've maintained for a while that the US left had only really begun to recover from the red scares and the Cold War, around 2020.
I could've wished for it to have happened in 2010 instead, but I do think more and more people are coming to that realization.
Occupy was undermined and co-opted by liberal centrists.
Honestly I think there was no way that was every NOT going to happen, because the successes of the Cold War meant the left had to learn how to walk all over again, including learning the dynamics of how liberals and conservatives respond to unrest.
The playbook is always in flux.
Sure, and they will try to do that to every leftish movement for as long as we have a ruling class.
It's something we just have to account for, because they've already demonstrated that for many, fascism is less scary.
