One particular bit of research demonstrated that being in green spaces even for half an hour twice a week made a 24% improvement in symptoms AND that the effect was more pronounced in girls. (The effect keeps going right up to 14 hours a week, incidentally)
Which means that building lovely things like the ones in the thread below could potentially pay for themselves just in reduced costs for mental health treatment*.
*and osteoporosis, and obesity...

Also, this poll is not an outlier - some recent surveys have found that girls are up to three times more likely to have poor mental health than boys.
