10 Aug 25 -- It's baaaccCK. 2024 "Kamala's for they/them" ads making a come-back w/ Rep's running in midterms. One sample: "Man-to-man defense isn’t woke enough for Ossoff–he’s playing for they/them. Call and tell Sen. Ossoff, stop dunking on defenseless girls." Really?!? @rikiwilchins.bsky.social

Always interesting how often politicians are playing for the last election and not the next one. I remember in Virginia in 2021 Dems trying the Jan 6 angle. I think the Kamala is for they/them ads might be the most overrated political ads history. Is there any evidence they moved the needle?

  1. They didn’t affect who people planned to vote for at all! But they DID contribute to the anti-trans climate we’re living through now. Naturally the Democrats have immediately moved to throw trans people under the bus so the ad did what it was actually intended to do.

  2. I don't think it was supposed to move the needle. I think it was supposed to piss off white evangelicals so they would rush to the polls. These are all base elections it seems these days.

  3. Election analysis feels like it's always been vibes based. Just a bunch of this is why X lost based on personal opinion. Dems are even doing it with trying to make a "Joe Rogan of the left" without trying to identify why their campaign didn't resonate with people
