Drey won by 11 points in a district Donald Trump carried by 11 points last year. It's another massive overperformance. The Iowa GOP should be very worried for the midterms.

And just wait for it, in some amount of time, Catelin Drey will run for a federal seat and win. And once in there, she'll start doing inexplicable things that no one understands. Like voting against a fed min wage hike, or weapons for genocide, or whatever.
Texas GOP just redrew a bunch of districts making them "Lean Republican" which puts them within 10 points. If there's an 11+ point swing in 2026 in Texas, instead of picking up 5 seats, Texas Republicans could screw themselves out of a bunch of seats. 🤣☕💯 #DummyMander

The MAGAt Party nationwide should be worried about what may be a mega-shift in 2026. We can be hopeful that this is a bellwether. I'm not yet seeing a Blue Wave, but we don't need a tsunami to do a lot of correction.

The specials prior to 2024 ended up not matching the electorate.
We've just updated our special election Big Board with Drey's big win (10.46 pts, not 11 as stated above).
Across 34 special elections this year, Dems are outperforming last year's presidential results by an average of 16 points. That's far ahead of 2017-18.
I live in this deeply red state and while this is encouraging, it still takes 26 votes in the senate to pass a bill, and the R's will now have 32 vs 33 seats. I don't see a path forward where bills can be blocked next year by the dems🤷
I am thinking the Republicans aren't going to be able to cheat/gerrymander their way out of their insanity.
It’s not going to get any better for the GOP, it will get much worse. Cheeto and his acolytes are not going to change their game plan, which voters obviously despise.
With that turnout and margin of victory, I bet they are shaking in their boots. No way they make up 700 votes nationally.
I don't live in Iowa, so I hope Iowa residents can confirm, but the tariffs from what I heard are just devastating the state's agricultural economy.
