This is the result of capitalism eating itself. Unchecked capitalism resulting in wealth & income inequality, monopolistic industries including health, media, bribes and corruption leading to power in the hands of the wealthy. No area of society is then immune to the power & influence of the wealthy

They join a line of collaborators such as Pétain, Quisling, Doña Marina and Benedict Arnold. History will not be kind to them.

Seems to me like they are capitulating, rather than being silenced. The act of being silenced would require an ACTUAL fight, not settlements.

in truth, the rot set in well before Trump. And you late-night hosts have always been a little mild and prone to simply act as a light catharsis to egregious political acts. The US needs more scabrous , hard-edged satires: it always has.
