Depending on where you are in Texas there are some amazing homeschool groups that give chances for socialization and are welcoming to all walks of life. (Not saying they all are, but I had a wonderful experience with one some years back that stuck with me as an amazing community experience.)
There are decent kids everywhere. It is important they aren't alone.
It will also reduce their chance of dying to a mass shooter, significantly.
Some States care about their citizens and try to control firearms in sensible ways; Licensing, red flags, required training, registration...
Texas gives them out for free whenever you buy a truck or open a bank account.
He'll be alright, just stay involved at school
