You should also actually talk to an estate planning lawyer for a lot of these, too!! E.g., what's the effect in your state if your will says "to my husband [name]" and the government says "2 men can't be husbands"? Will the name suffice? Will that bequest be stricken entirely? Will RFMA save it?

Yep. I knew a family that went to a lawyer every six goddamn months so they could be a family. It's obscenity, pure and simple.

Yes, but some of these can’t be done now while a marriage is still valid— the end of a marriage voids a will in many states for example. And of course even if you do all of these they can’t replicate the full rights and duties of marriage.

Not married, but finding all the old survival instincts kicking back in from when I was closeted in my youth. I hate feeling this way. I don't want to ever go back.
