The exact same can be said about big cities. Yet you’re not advocating for rural folks to move to the big cities and learn how the rest of the country actually lives. No one ever tells THEM to open their hearts and minds.

I'm saying live in a rural area if you love the good things about rural areas. And help shift the voting balance while you're at it so that our elections in these areas of the country are less distorted. Rural people moving to cities doesn't achieve that. 1/2

  1. More broadly speaking, I've long been in favor of some sort of national service or mandatory study abroad to really widen people's horizons. Not likely or feasible, but one can dream. 2/2
