I am relying on procrastination and further diversionary manoeuvres. A Putin cannot and will not change. Hitler also remained unreasonable and stubbornly stuck to his line. If you have gone too far down the wrong path, it takes more than big balls to change your orientation.

Trump will continue to be played by Putin. Putin's long game is reconstituting the USSR and he'll play Trump like a violin. Giving Putin the Ukr land he has acquired by invasion and lifting sanctions gives Putin the opportunity to continue its aggression. Putin won't abide by any agreement.
