A very funny thing that happened here is that long-time VA Delegate Todd Gilbert was nominated for U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, stepped down from his seat, a special election was scheduled, he became the acting attorney, and then quit yesterday, after 5 weeks, with this tweet:

Two tweets. First, from July 14: "Proud and excited to be sworn in today as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia. Jennifer was beautiful. The boys took it seriously, one even more than the other." Second, from yesterday, a clip from "Anchorman," with the main character drinking a beer and saying "boy, that escalated quickly."

Why did Gilbert quit? 🤷 The rumor is that the White House told him to fire somebody and hire in their place Charlottesville's incompetent former commonwealth's attorney, Robert Tracci, and he refused. (Tracci is now the new acting AG.)

  1. I say Tracci is incompetent because he fumbled the extremely easy perjury conviction of Jason Kessler, the United the Right organizer, with the oopsie of forgetting to prove that Kessler had perjured himself here in Albemarle County. And that's the dude who is our U.S. Attorney now.

I have nearly never seen a description of anything to do with C. Todd Gilbert that hasn’t made me shake my head and go, “oh, C. Todd Gilbert,” tortured soul
