My theory is they’re being falsely emboldened by social media data in a dead internet.
They don’t realize their own bots and PR teams have poisoned the set and that internet points on sites like Twitter have become meaningless.

...there's a "narrative" that requires much effort to create this thing called "the US"...however, these pesky things called "history", "facts" & "real news" keep intruding on the story...now people have to either confront the ugliness or participate in "patriotic spinning" - i.e.., support the myth
