88% of Britons (including 82% of over-65s) support new proposals to require drivers over the age of 70 to pass an eyesight test every 3 years in order to keep their driving licence

It'd be nice if they EXPLAINED and accompanied seniors in acknowledging that their capabilities aren't the same in old age.
Not just "taking away" their license.

Absolute no-brainer

Every country should do the same thing. You can't just drive until you kill someone and they take away your license. My father had macular degeneration and had a serious accident before he was compelled to quit driving. I'm eighty now (almost) and I think this is a great and overdue idea.

I am a firm believer that a driver of ANY age should have to provide proof of an eyesight test every time they renew their driving license.

Sure, and cars that won't remain running if they take off their glasses & lock them inside if they run for president.

55% support it.
33% only somewhat support it.
This is also misleading because you're making it sound like it's 88% of all Britons. It's NOT. It's just 88% among the amount surveyed.

Good idea, but what about P plates for young drivers ?
-
Sorry. I canβt read this.

Strongly support

Agree. But then, is the plan to make all the changes to our car-centric country which will enable these newly-non-drivers to do, well, everything, without a car? Huge upgrade in bus services will be needed, for a start.

Can we have the same on anyone over 18 please? This rather discriminatory

Interesting, but what about the semi blind 40 yr olds that think they are too young to wear specs or take a test. Esp now with so many glued to screens so got short vision but lost their long. ?

support and restrict new young drivers
