  1. I think it’s worth defending the distinction between liberal and centrist. A genuine liberal has no problem defending the rights of minorities: it should be central to their principles.

A centrist doesn’t have principles. They have positioning, triangulation, vacuity, and an absence of ethics.

  2. This is likely partly true, and it’s ironic since Lewisham has its own football club, but most of those fans live in Bexley and Kent and nor is that club apparently interested in broadening their support base or developing any ties with the local area.

Big chance - if they kick on - for Palace to sew up the Deep South London fan base. Core Sutton/Croydon/Bromley territory is 1 million people. Ironically Ian Wright’s move from Palace locked most of Lewisham into Arsenal.

  3. There's a common trope noted in america, the idea that only the left has agency and therefore responsibility to change its behaviour and positions, while the right is a sort of immovable force like the weather. I think sadly that's come over here now too.

  4. I was keen to watch this anyway, but now I’m excited. The Night Comes For Us is one of the best action films of the past decade.

Bob Odenkirk tells us why he chose action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto to direct ‘NOBODY 2’

“Sometimes action directors, they don’t do story... watching ‘The Night Comes For Us’ and his other films, you can see that Timo cares about story and relationships.”
