Misinformation is just false information.
Disinfo is false information created and spread for specific ends, e.g. blocking regulation.
Kernan has spread disinformation which has mostly originated with the fossil fuel industry.

The right has a worse case scenario where podcasters are deputy directors at agencies, which is darkly funny, but I think a good faith version of that on the liberal / left side of things is like outreach positions and policy positions depending on background and knowledge.

I think it’s more that it represents the type of thing that gets money — controlled messaging, never going to challenge status quo party power relationships. There’s a fear that independent influencers on the left would start wagging the dog.
