My stupid argument in favour of silver: the symbol (Ag) is my initials 😅

I have a love/hate relationship with baryte. I did my undergrad thesis on Baryte deposits in NW Colombia, good memories. But also, baryte is classified as a critical mineral in the USA because it is needed for drilling muds. Wrong reason to define criticality, if you ask me.

Same here. I only saw one rider (besides me) masking today. And I’m counting my entire round-trip commute!

It’s dark & dramatic #Stibonite vs fluffy & adorable #Okenite. Kohl or cottonball?

Looking forward to learn about cuprosklodowskite, haüyne, jeremejevite, kosmochlor, mannardite, paddlewheelite, thortveitite (I would not even know how to pronounce those names!)

I cannot believe this is the first time azurite is in the MinCup!

Hark! Is that a mineral list I spy? www.mineralcup.org/2025/mineral...
Lots of new contenders this year as we increase to 75% turnover for #MinCup25.

Happy birthday to #geologist & #paleontogist Alice Wilson (1881-1964). 🐡🧪👩🏼🔬⚒️ #histsci A job in the Mineralogy Division of the U of Toronto Museum was her entry into #geology. In 1909 as a museum assistant with Geological Survey of Canada (GSC), in Ottawa, she catalogued & labelled invertebrate 🧵
