Totally. May I add that the need to adopt a cooler-than-that attitude with EVERYTHING that's popular is predictable, and dull. Yeah, La Vie Est Belle was a mainstream hit. So what? 🤷 I still love it, I'll defend it, and I don't give a shit if snobs look down at me for that.

I genuinely want to work toward a better future, but the means of bringing it into being (thanks in large part to massive income inequality) rest in the hands of the disproportionately wealthy.
I'm livid, and feel helpless. My hobbies and interests feel meaningless. Do you have any ideas?

Totally valid. The only solutions that I can come up with involve dethroning feckless, do-nothing politicians, and replacing them with genuine progressives. Short of becoming personally involved, though, I feel unable to affect that change in any meaningful way.
