The origins of the saucer shape of UFOs is very easy to find, but where does the imagery of the beam of light (which usually transports people) from the bottom of the saucer originates? It's a very specific imagery, but I don't even know how to call it.

Clippy was the foot in the door. Our tools shouldn't be anthropomorphic. Fictional characters are in a designated play area, but our tools are not. If they are anthropomorphic, how can people know they are just as fictional?
