—Majority Senate Dems oppose arms sales to Israel for first time

Reject AIPAC Coalition: “AIPAC is Now Definitively a Toxic Pariah in the Democratic Party”

Washington, DC — One year since the launch of the “Reject AIPAC” coalition to take on the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its affiliated dark money Super PACs, AIPAC has rapidly become a toxic pariah in the Democratic Party losing previously endorsed members who no longer want their support, having endorsed members oppose their policies, and receiving higher and higher disapproval ratings among the Democratic electorate who overwhelmingly oppose the policies they champion in Washington.

In response to this continued momentum to reject AIPAC from the Democratic Party, the coalition released the following statement:

“Over the last 22 months, we have witnessed the Israeli government perpetrate a genocide of Palestinians in Gaza with the backing of two different U.S. administrations and hundreds of members of Congress — all with the full-throated support of AIPAC. But as the realities of Israel’s forced starvation and mass killing have become impossible to deny, and the constant calls from constituents have become too loud to ignore, AIPAC is losing its sway in the Democratic Party.

“Alongside so many everyday voters, our organizations have mobilized hundreds of thousands to protest, call, email, and show up to their elected officials’ offices, we have fought back in multimillion dollar Congressional primaries against AIPAC’s hand-picked candidates, and exposed the threat they serve not only to Palestinians in the face of genocide but to American voters whose democracy is being sold like an auction to the highest bidder—usually a Republican billionaire or Trump megadonor.

“In the year since we launched our coalition, AIPAC has definitively become a toxic pariah in the Democratic Party. Last week, they led one of the smallest groups of freshman Democrats ever on their annual AIPAC trip to Israel, down 10 members from 2023’s group of 24 Democrats—including …“The most recent polls indicate 92% of Democratic voters disapprove of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, 54% of Democratic voters support decreasing military aid to Israel, and 65% of Democratic voters believe that Israel is committing a genocide in Palestine. Being aligned with AIPAC is bad politics and bad policy and our elected leaders are slowly—under pressure—beginning to realize that.

“As the Democratic Party looks towards regaining majorities in 2026 and 2028, it is clear that for many of its voters, an AIPAC endorsement will be a political liability. While there continues to be much work to be done to expel this corrupt lobby from the Democratic Party, our efforts are working. The path forward for Democratic members even as a minority in Congress is clear: Stop arming the Israeli government, reject AIPAC, and return our democracy back to the people.”

The Reject AIPAC coalition is Justice Democrats, US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action, Jewish Voice for Peace Action, IfNotNow Movement, the Working Families Party, Sunrise Movement, Showing Up for Racial Justice, MPower Change Action Fund, the Democratic Socialists of America, CommonDefense.us, Jews For Racial & Economic Justice, Center for Popular Democracy Action, Our Revolution, Dream Defenders, Progressive Democrats of America, RootsAction, Grassroot Global Justice Action, Justice is Global Action, Future Coalition, Peace Action, National Iranian American Council Action, Gen-Z for Change, and the Institute for Middle East Understanding Policy Project organizing Democratic voters and elected officials to reject the destructive influence of the Republican megadonor-backed AIPAC on the Democratic primary process and our government’s policy towards Palestine and Israel.
